Mr. Paul Unger - Art

Kindergarten art is an introduction to the art studio. This year's study will lay a foundation upon which students can build.

First grade art builds upon students' understanding of the elements of line, shape and form and the principle of rhythm/pattern.

Second grade art builds upon students' understanding of the element of color.

Third grade art builds upon students' understanding of the element of texture and the principles of balance and unity.

Fourth grade art builds upon students' understanding of the element of value and the principles of emphasis and contrast.

Fifth grade art builds upon students' understanding of the element of space and the principle of proportion.

Sixth grade art builds upon students' understanding of the elements and principles of design. Advanced color theory and the principle of variety are applied to art production.

Seventh grade art builds upon students' understanding of the elements and principles of design. The principle of movement is applied to art production.

Eighth grade art builds upon students' understanding of the elements and principles of design. The element of space will be more thoroughly examined and applied to create the illusion of depth.

News and Announcements

Large Paper, Rolls of Paper and Posterboard Needed

Do you know anyone who is an architect or engineer or someone in the paper business? I have received several large rolls of paper and pads of building blueprints in the past and I want to thank everyone who has donated to the Art Room. We can always use more. Please bring any large paper in and I know we will find a use for it. Thank you and God bless.

Mr. Paul Unger - Art

I am the second oldest of four children and I grew up in South City St. Louis in Epiphany of Our Lord Parish. I have pulled up my city roots and moved out to Florissant where my wife, Laura, and I have a home. Laura is a Speech Pathologist in the Ferguson/Florissant School Districy and she works with special needs children. We are members of All Saints Parish and were married here in October of 2010. We immediately fell in love with the All Saints community and all of the people who have made it the special place it is.

Unfortunately, my art education in my younger years was very limited, but my parents always nurtured and encouraged me to use the talents given to me by God. I want every student to be able to express themselves creatively and positively. I am eager to share my love of art with the students and show how it can bring joy into their lives and the lives of others.

I consider myself very blessed and fortunate to be teaching all grade levels at All Saints. Working with the many age levels, personal interests and artistic styles is a welcomed challenge. In looking at various styles and works in art's history, we will explore the many beautiful and interesting forms art can take.

In my free time I love to draw and paint, play softball, enjoy my vast collection of old and new movies and music, read and spend as much time as I can with my wife.
