What is SCRIP and how does SCRIP work?

SCRIP is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase SCRIP, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use SCRIP for everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials. With every SCRIP purchase, you earn money for All Saints at no additional cost to you. This is an important thing to remember. AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO YOU. The vendor is the one who gives the parish a percentage of money. And you get to use the entire amount that you purchased.  Nothing extra out of your pocket….the amount you buy at the Scrip counter is the amount you get to spend. Every penny of it.

SCRIP is NOT just a school fundraiser. You can decide where you would like your profits to go. They can go to the Full time school, or you can designate that the percentage go to PSR, or the general parish fund. Just mark your order form. To make it easier on you and on the parishioners selling Scrip, you can drop off your order before mass and pick up your completed order after mass. All Saints Full-Time School SCRIP Fundraiser

If you have chosen to use SCRIP to pay for your fundraiser fee the amount, you need to raise is the PROFIT generated from purchasing SCRIP cards. The amount raised toward your goal is based on the percentage that the store gives back to the parish. Check the SCRIP order form for the exact percentage for each store.

Here is an example of how your PROFIT dollars are raised and the amount of SCRIP cards that would need to be purchased to meet your goal.

If you purchased $75.00 in Shop & Save or Dierberg's  gift cards per week (An average family spends more than that per week on groceries) you would raise:
$75.00 X 5% = $3.75 X 52 weeks would equal $195.00 towards your goal.

If you purchased $100.00 per week in gas cards you would raise:
$100.00 X 1.5% = $1.5 X 52 weeks would equal $78.00 towards your goal.

If you purchased a $100.00 Home Depot, Lowes or Wal-Mart or other department store gift cards every month you would raise:
$1,200 X 3% would equal $36.00 towards your goal.

If you purchased $50.00 a month from Fast Food or other Restaurants you would raise:
$600.00 X 5% would equal $30.00 towards your goal.J

Gas Cards: $ 78.00
Home Improvement/Dept. Stores: $ 36.00
Fast Food/Restaurants: $30.00
TOTAL $339.00

As you can see, with planning out your purchases you can easily reach your fundraising goal. This does not even include buying gift cards for Christmas and Birthday presents for all your relatives and friends throughout the year. Look at the SCRIP order form to see all the stores and places of business that you can order SCRIP from to meet your SCRIP goal.
