St. Martin de Porres
St. Martin de Porres was born in Lima, Peru in 1579, the illegitimate son of a Spanish gentlemen and a freed slave from Panama. His mother was of African or possibly Native American descent. Martin's father abandoned his family, leaving Martin to grow up in deep poverty. After two years in primary school, Martin was placed with a barber/surgeon where he learned to cut hair and was trained in medical arts.

Ash Wednesday (February 17, 2021), all Fridays of Lent and Good Friday (April 2, 2021) are days of ABSTINENCE (refraining from meat) for all Catholics from age 14 onwards.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are also days of FAST as well as ABSTINENCE. Fasting is obligatory for all Catholics from the ages of 18-59.

Following Mass we will have a "cake reception” (individual cupcakes, Covid protected).
At the other Masses, we will offer a special blessing for married couples.
